thirty-one (page 68 in breaking open)
31, thirsty for hope it’s been a dark night but there’s a halo of light on the horizon flickering on and off sometimes it lasts long enough to light the whole day.
This is the last of the three poems from Tanya Markul’s prompt: point out three decades of your life where you changed, where life happened (11, 21 and 31), which I used in my book, breaking open, referenced below.
In my next Behind the Scenes post I’ll dive deeper into the lines of thirty-one (ten years ago now), and an exploration of this time.
What does it spark in you? Can you remember a time in your life when you’ve been thirsty for hope?
